Removal of diesel pollution by biochar - support in water remediation

چکیده
Water contaminated with diesel oil represents one of the greatest challenges in waste water management. soluble fraction (WSF) is particular interest because its toxicity to aquatic organisms and discharge regulations set by environmental authorities. Biochar sorbents have attracted great attention, due their low cost origin advantageous properties as well high sorption capacities processes. In this study, we reported synthesis characteristics novel biochar sorbent made from lignocellulosic biomass (peach stones (PS)) evaluated possible application removal WSF synthetic water. Physiochemical sample were analysed scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Brunauer?Emmett?Teller (BET) method, Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), along elemental analysis. Characterisation PS (PS-B) indicated multi porous surface area (159.1 m2 g-1) average pore diameter 2.7 nm. FTIR results higher presence aromatic compounds PS-B compared PS. The experiments performed a batch system using resulted more than 95 % WSF, reaching equilibrium after 5 h. Equilibrium data fitted Freundlich isotherm, while pseudo-second order equation kinetic data, indicating chemisorption involving valency forces through sharing/exchange electrons between PS-B. Applications ecotoxicology tests based on microbial biosensor (Aliivibrio fischeri) shown significant reduction treatment biochar.

Remediation of ozone pollution by ornamental plants in indoor environment
The indoor air quality is much more matter of concern as relative to ambient or outdoor air quality, especially in the context of human health. However, very few studies have been reported for remediation of indoor ozone by plant species. The main objective of this study is to evaluate ozone deposition velocities and ozone removal effectiveness of three indoor ornamental plant species (Dra...
متن کاملBiochar for soil remediation and land reclamation
Land reclamation generally relates to the improvement of soils degraded by human activities, for example construction and certain forms of agriculture. Soil remediation refers to the process of removing, neutralizing or reducing the toxicity of certain compounds, often left by human activities such as mining and industry. Each degraded and/or contaminated site is potentially unique in its chara...
